Linda Blair was five years old at the time she became the first child actress to be cast in The Exorcist. She had played the role of model for 3 years, and was then cast as the child possessed, Regan. Linda got the Golden Globe and was on track to receive an Academy Award. However, after the revelation in the media that Mercedes McCambridge had dubbed the evil voice and the eight seconds was performed by a stunt person and the dream of a career on the A-list did not materialize. In the following years, she managed to secure leading parts in a variety of motion pictures. This included the acclaimed television series Born Innocent and Sarah T. Sarah T. Portrait of a Teenage Alcoholic along with Exorcist II - The Heretic. When she bought cocaine under peer pressure at age 18, it led to the arrest of her and three years' probation. Linda was blacklisted by Hollywood in the wake of the well-publicized drug bust. Her career soon became reduced to B movies and television appearances.
