Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in the performing arts (now known as Maureen O'Hara), would have placed her, in America's eyes, into the class of child prodigies. But for a young Irish girl who was surrounded by gifted parents and extended family, these qualities were naturally. Maureen entered the safe haven of her parents on August 17 1920 in Ranelagh (a suburb in Dublin), Ireland. Marguerita FitzSimons was a gifted contralto. His father, Charles FitzSimons, managed a business in Dublin and also owned part of the renowned Irish football team "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons' was the second FitzSimons child. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara made up this family. Maureen excelled as a sportswoman and participated in rough, competitive games as a child. Her natural ability to perform perfectly complemented her passion for athletics. That was apparent that she was the winner of each Feis for drama and theater which Ireland could provide. When she was in her 14th year she enrolled in the Abbey Theater to follow her aspirations and pursue studies in the classical theater and operatic singing.
